(VAN) Pepper prices on 07/10/2024 rose by an additional VND 2,000. As a result, domestic pepper prices have reached around VND 153,000 – 154,000/kg.
Pepper prices on July 10 globally
On the global market, pepper prices on July 10 showed a downward trend compared to yesterday.
Specifically, the price of black pepper from Lampung, Indonesia, slightly decreased by 0.1%, down to $ 7,155/ton. The price of white pepper from Muntok, Indonesia, also fell by 0.1%, reaching $ 9,110/ton.
The price of black pepper Kuching ASTA from Malaysia decreased by 0.35%, down to $ 7,150/ton, while white pepper ASTA from the same country remained at $ 8,800/ton.
In the Brazilian market, the price of black pepper ASTA 570 remained stable at $ 7,250/ton.
In Vietnam, the export price for black pepper 500 g/l was $ 6,000/ton, and for black pepper 550 g/l was $ 6,600/ton. The export price for white pepper remained at $ 8,800/ton.
Global pepper prices today are slightly declining in Indonesia and Malaysia, while prices in other countries remain stable.
Thus, global pepper prices on 07/10/2024, have slightly decreased in Indonesia.
Pepper prices on July 10 domestically
In the domestic market, pepper prices on July 10 increased by an additional VND 2,000 compared to yesterday.
Specifically, Dak Lak is purchasing pepper at VND 154,000/kg;
The price of pepper in Dak Nong today is also trading at VND 154,000/kg;
In Gia Lai, pepper is being purchased at VND 153,000/kg;
Traders in Dong Nai are trading pepper at VND 153,000/kg;
The price of pepper in Ba Ria – Vung Tau today has increased to VND 153,000/kg;
Meanwhile, traders in Binh Phuoc are trading pepper at VND 153,000/kg.
Today marks the second consecutive day of rising domestic pepper prices, pushing this agricultural product to the threshold of VND 154,000/kg.
According to statistics from VPSA, in the first six months of 2024, Vietnam imported 18,002 tons of various types of pepper. Among them, black pepper accounted for 16,357 tons, while white pepper reached 1,645 tons. The total import turnover was $ 69.6 million, an 18.9% increase compared to the same period last year.
The three main countries supplying pepper to Vietnam are: Brazil with 7,241 tons, a decrease of 22.3%; Cambodia with 6,212 tons, an increase of 34.5%; and Indonesia with 2,991 tons, an increase of 67.3%.
According to VPSA, as of the end of June 2024, Vietnam exported 142,586 tons of various types of pepper, with black pepper reaching 125,959 tons and white pepper 16,627 tons.
The total export turnover was $ 634.2 million, with black pepper contributing $ 539.9 million and white pepper $ 94.3 million. Compared to the same period last year, the export volume decreased by 6.8%, but the export turnover increased by 30.5%.
In the first half of 2024, the industry achieved a trade surplus of $ 564.6 million.
Thus, domestic pepper prices on 07/10/2024, are trading around VND 153,000 – 154,000/kg.
