Rice prices on 09/12/2024: The market declines simultaneously

Rice prices on September 12 domestically

The rice and paddy market on September 12 is experiencing a mild decline in prices. Demand for rice and paddy remains stable, but prices are trending downward.

Paddy prices have decreased by VND 100 – 400. Current prices are as follows:

• An Giang sticky rice (fresh) remains at VND 7,000 – 7,200/kg; Long An sticky rice (fresh) is around VND 7,400 – 7,600/kg.
• Long An sticky rice (dried) is priced at VND 7,000 – 7,900/kg; IR 4625 sticky rice (fresh) is around VND 7,400 – 7,600/kg.
• IR 50404 paddy is holding at VND 7,200 – 7,600/kg (down VND 300-400); Dai Thom 8 paddy remains at VND 8,000 – 8,200/kg (down VND 100).
• OM 5451 paddy trades at VND 7,800 – 8,000/kg (down VND 200); OM 18 is at VND 8,000 – 8,200/kg (down VND 100).
• OM 380 is holding at VND 7,600 – 7,800/kg; Japonica paddy is at VND 7,800 – 8,000/kg.
• Nang Nhen (dried) is trading at VND 20,000/kg; Nang Hoa 9 is priced at VND 6,900 – 7,000/kg.

Similarly, rice prices have also decreased slightly, with slower purchases and limited supply. In An Cu (Soc Trang), rice arrivals are steady, but the quality is poor, leading to slower purchases. In An Giang, purchases are slow, and prices have decreased slightly, with stable supply. Current rice prices are:

• IR 504 summer-autumn rice is at VND 10,700 – 10,800/kg (down VND 100-300); processed IR 504 rice is priced at VND 13,000 – 13,200/kg (down VND 100).
• Roasted sticky rice is at VND 16,000 – 20,000/kg; ordinary rice is at VND 15,000 – 16,000/kg; Nang Nhen rice is priced at VND 28,000/kg.
• Thai fragrant long-grain rice is at VND 20,000 – 21,000/kg; Jasmine rice is at VND 18,000 – 20,000/kg; Huong Lai rice is holding at VND 20,000/kg.
• Common white rice is purchased at VND 17,000/kg; Nang Hoa rice is at VND 20,000/kg; Soc rice is at VND 18,500/kg; Soc Thai rice is at VND 20,000/kg.
• Taiwanese fragrant rice is priced at VND 21,000/kg; Japanese rice remains at VND 22,000/kg.
• OM 5451 broken rice is at VND 8,600 – 8,800/kg; dry bran is priced at VND 6,450 – 6,650/kg (down VND 50-150).
• In the export market, 100% broken rice is at $ 452/ton; standard 5% broken rice is at $ 567/ton (down $ 4 ). 25% broken rice is at $ 533/ton (down $ 1).

Thus, on 09/12/2024, domestic rice and paddy purchase prices have seen a slight decrease.

More than 137,000 ha of rice and crops damaged by Typhoon No. 3

According to the Department of Water Resources (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development), as of 5 p.m. on September 11, approximately 115,017 ha of rice and 32,119 ha of vegetables in the northern region have been flooded and damaged.

On September 11, water levels in the Red River – Thai Binh system and other irrigation systems remained high, with some pumping stations and sluice gates having to stop operations according to regulations. Internal pumping stations are preparing to cease operations.

Specifically, the North-South Ha irrigation system has stopped operations at 7 out of 12 stations. The North Hung Hai irrigation system closed An Tho sluice at 6:30 a.m. on September 11, and closed Cau Xe sluice at noon on September 11, with the My Dong pumping station ceasing operations at 11:25 a.m. on September 11.

Additionally, water pumping into the North Hung Hai irrigation system was halted from 1 p.m. on September 11. The North Duong irrigation system has currently stopped operations at 30 out of 44 pumping stations. Water pumping into the Ngu Huyen Khe river was halted from the morning of September 11.

The Nhue River irrigation system has stopped pumping water into the Nhue River irrigation system.

Other areas like Thai Binh and Hai Duong have also had to stop many water pumping stations due to high river levels.

As of 4 p.m. on September 11, northern provinces are operating 484 pumping stations with 2,044 pumps.
