Currently, Vietnam has over 115,000 ha of pepper and spice crops, with the majority concentrated in the Central Coast and Central Highlands regions, covering more than 75,300 ha, while the remainder is located in the South and the North.
In the near future, the total area dedicated to pepper and spices in the country is expected to decline to around 110,000 ha. The main reasons are weather conditions, pests, and the rising prices of many other agricultural products.
Moreover, expanding market access has become more challenging, with some markets reducing imports and continuing to increase technical standards and barriers for Vietnamese pepper and spice products.
Therefore, controlling the production process, especially soil health and crop quality, will need to be more rigorously enforced.
Thus, the domestic pepper prices on November 27, 2024, are trading around VND 140,000 – 141,000/kg.
