Coffee prices on December 10 globally
Globally, the London and New York exchanges saw mixed fluctuations on December 10.
Specifically, Robusta prices on the London exchange for January 2025 delivery surged by $ 93 (equivalent to 1.8%), reaching $ 5,246/ton. The March 2025 delivery contract also rose by $ 84 (equivalent to 1.64%), settling at $ 5,200/ton.
Meanwhile, on the New York exchange, Arabica prices for March 2025 delivery edged down slightly by 0.15 cents (equivalent to 0.05%), to 330.10 cents/lb. However, the May 2025 delivery contract saw a slight increase of 0.05 cents (equivalent to 0.02%), reaching 327.65 cents/lb.
Global coffee prices are surging on the London exchange due to supply concerns in Vietnam.
Data from the General Statistics Office of Vietnam indicates that Vietnam’s coffee exports in November dropped by 49.1% compared to the same period last year, falling to only 60,000 tons. Total accumulated exports over 11 months decreased by 14.3%, reaching 1.2 million tons.
Recent heavy rains in Vietnam have caused flooding in coffee fields, delaying the harvest progress for the 2024/25 crop.
Meanwhile, Robusta inventories monitored by ICE fell to their lowest level in 7.5 months, reaching 3,674 lots as of last Friday.
On the New York exchange, prices exhibited slight fluctuations. Higher Arabica stocks (reaching their highest level in over two years at 905,831 bags) and increased exports from Brazil are considered factors contributing to the stabilization of March Arabica futures prices after reaching record highs last week.
Thus, global coffee prices on December 10, 2024, are experiencing mixed trends compared to the previous day.
