Mr. Nguyen Viet Bac, 38, spent more than 10 years seeking to raise the value of Ca Mau crab products, exported to the quality of the breed, high profits.
Born in a purely agricultural family in Dam Doi district, since being a teenager, Mr. Bac has the opportunity to interact with aquatic species. At the end of grade 3, he asked for a small family to raise crabs and sell money to earn money. The father facilitates him from improving the pond to instructions on how to raise. Thanks to that, he had money to go to school, not to ask for pocket money from his family.

The young man later studied and graduated in Can Tho University Aquaculture in 2010; Graduated with a master’s degree with the topic of fattening crab fattening in the water circulation system. Mr. Bac was supported by his family to open crab farms in Tan Tien commune. From the practice of modeling, he found that this species developed well but easily sick, high risk. Desiring to overcome difficulties in the model, he decided to continue his doctorate to gain more knowledge.
Since 2015, Mr. Bac lectured at Ca Mau Community College. Here, the teacher was specially loved by students in the name of “Dr. Cua” to study and raise the value of Ca Mau. Currently, he has linked about 200 households in Tan Tien commune to provide stable sources of commercial crabs. He associated with you to open a jackfruit seed farm (jackfruit seed size) in Kien Giang with 70 ponds to meet the needs of high quality breeds.
Jackfruit crabs are manufactured based on strict processes. The breed is carefully selected from 5 associated camps in Ca Mau and Kien Giang. To make seed crabs, the pond is designed 1,000-5,000 m2, density of 20-50 heads per m2. Before dropping, the owner of the farm spreads lime, thin natural food such as worms, rice snails and soft nails.
The breeding process, the seed crab is added to zeolite (a mineral), probiotics, health check, regular food. Each farming process usually lasts 25-35 days will harvest, depending on customer needs. “Source of jackfruit is favored by the market due to good vitality,” Mr. Bac said, saying that he now sells the same throughout the country, after deducting the cost he earns a profit of about 10%.

In addition to producing breeding crabs, Mr. Bac has been known for many years as a person who devoted himself to the development of crab fattening processes. With the knowledge gained, he embarked on how to raise intensive crabs with modern water treatment systems in the form of concentration, cost savings.
“My goal is to replicate the people and raise the production scale to meet the output of large orders,” Mr. Bac said, saying a crab in the box until sold costs about 85,000 VND, while concentrated farming is only about 25,000 VND.
This method uses advanced water treatment technology; Fatting crabs through three stages with a density of 36-40 heads per square meter. The seed source is selected from the linked areas, so the quality of meat and the size of the input is uniform. Crabs are raised in a closed process that is well controlled by water, food and lighting environmental factors, so they decide the harvest time and quality.
Currently, Dr. Bac has linked farmers and students to form farming areas with advanced technology and closed process. The form of intensive crab farming is concentrated in the circulatory system, later it is overflowing, helping to increase profits 2-3 times higher than the traditional way.
In August24, Mr. Bac rented a 5 -hectare land in Tan Xuyen Ward, Ca Mau City, to raise crabs and fatten crabs and tanks on the tank. He invested more than VND 100 million to build a camp, with 6 composite tanks, creating UV lighting system to disinfect bactericidal; Closed modern water filtration system, smart roof …
During the production process, he also took advantage of broken crabs that were often purchased by traders at low prices to make spring rolls, scrub crabs, helping to increase their value in the market.

Currently, he sells about 200 kg of crab, 100-300 kg of bricks and meat crabs. Particularly crab jackfruit, the farm owner sells 20,000-30,000 heads per day. In addition to production, he also brought products to promote and introduce at fairs. With a variety of products when accessing the market, every month he earns 80-100 million VND.
In the future, Mr. Bac wants to associate with farmers in the province to raise the scale, guide farming technology, then cover products, supply to the market. In teaching, he is always close and enthusiastic to support students who want to start a business from the sea crab.
Mr. Bac also has many scientific initiatives for teaching and winning many high awards: the third prize in the national prize in the design of self -training equipment to make “commercial crab farming system and fattening crab crab”; The second prize of Ca Mau Start -up Contest with the project of intensive farming of nuggets, peeled crabs, brick crabs, meat crabs and value -added products from the sea crabs, combined with experience tourism; Third prize in the Mekong Delta Startup Contest.
Ca Mau is the province with the largest marine crab farming area, with more than 250,000 ha; The output is estimated at about 25,000 tons per year, the total value is about 10,000 billion dong. Currently, most farmers raise this aquatic species in combination with shrimp.
