(VAN) Coffee prices on December 11, 2024, have simultaneously increased. Domestic coffee prices have risen by VND 700, trading at VND 124,200 – 124,700/kg.
Coffee prices on December 11 globally
On the global market, both the London and New York exchanges saw an increase on December 11.
Specifically, Robusta prices on the London exchange for January 2025 delivery rose by $ 22 (equivalent to 0.42%), reaching $ 5,268/ton. The March 2025 contract increased slightly by $ 32 (equivalent to 0.62%), at $ 5,232/ton.
On the New York exchange, Arabica prices for March 2025 delivery reversed and increased sharply by 4.05 cents (equivalent to 1.23%), reaching 334.15 cents/lb. The May 2025 contract rose by 3.9 cents (equivalent to 1.19%), at 331.55 cents/lb.
Global coffee prices today continue to rise on the London exchange, stimulating a recovery for Arabica on the New York exchange.
Robusta experienced a volatile trading session, increasing sharply at the start and then gradually declining, but still closed in positive territory.
Meanwhile, the news from Volcafe that Brazil’s Arabica production for 2025/2026 will only reach 34.4 million bags, a sharp decrease from previous projections, contributed to the price increase of this coffee type.
Thus, global coffee prices on December 11, 2024, are showing a solid increase compared to yesterday.
Coffee prices on December 11 domestically
On the domestic market, coffee prices today, December 11, have increased by VND 700 compared to yesterday.
Specifically, in Lam Dong province, the districts of Di Linh, Bao Loc, and Lam Ha are trading at VND 124,200/kg.
In Dak Lak, Cu M’gar district is purchasing coffee at VND 124,700/kg, while Ea H’leo and Buon Ho are trading at VND 124,600/kg.
In Dak Nong province, traders in Gia Nghia and Dak R’lap are purchasing at VND 124,700/kg and VND 124,600/kg, respectively.
In Gia Lai province, Chu Prong district is trading at VND 124,500/kg, while Pleiku and La Grai are holding steady at VND 124,400/kg.
In Kon Tum province, the coffee purchasing price is VND 124,500/kg today.
Especially, as Vietnam is in the phase of pushing new coffee supply to the market, domestic prices are more likely to decrease compared to global prices.
Commenting on the market trends based on historical lessons, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Quynh, Deputy General Director of MXV, stated that after a sharp increase driven by speculative factors, coffee prices are likely to experience a strong downward trend to bring prices back to the level determined by the supply-demand principle.
Thus, domestic coffee prices on December 11, 2024, are trading around the range of VND 124,200 – 124,700/kg.
