(VAN) Following the high growth momentum in 2024, crab exports to China grew suddenly in the first month of this year.

In 2025, Vietnam’s crab exports to the Chinese market promise to be very positive.
According to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), in January this year, crab exports to China recorded a sudden growth, increasing twelvefold over the same period last year and reaching 19 million USD.
The sudden growth in crab exports to China may be due to the decline in supply from large exporting countries such as Indonesia, the Philippines, and India. However, this trend also shows that the demand for high-class seafood products of the upper class in China has still increased sharply despite unclear prospects for the Chinese economy while waiting for US President Donald Trump’s tax policies for other countries.
Earlier, in 2024, crab exports to China – Hong Kong also recovered and grew very strongly when reaching 122.5 million USD, up nearly 10 times compared to 2023.
VASEP said that with positive developments in both 2024 and January this year, 2025 promises to be a positive year for exporting Vietnamese crabs to the Chinese market.
