Of these, Luong Nghia commune has 56 households who have been damaged with an area of 34.42 ha; Luong Tam commune, six households, with 2.5 ha. A total of 62 households in these two communes were compensated for more than 940 million VND. “The District People’s Committee proposed the relevant units to guide people to handle alum and salty wash in the field to go down to the summer -autumn rice crop safely and effectively,” Mr. Viet said.
The representative of My Thuan Project Management Board (investor) said that the contractor is clearing canals, adjusting the solution of sand pumping to avoid leaking water into the people’s fields.
In February, farmers reflected that rice planted next to the highway (under construction) in the area on root rot, burning and damaged, many areas lost white. The situation of dead rice occurs after the sand pumping highway is covered with sand. Local salinity measurement on rice fields planted on both sides of the highway is 7-11 per thousand, while rice only lives when the soil salinity is 2 thousand or less.
The contractor affirmed that the project through this area uses river sand. However, the time when the barges brought sand to gather in the river in the locality, the river water was saline (from January 1 every year). When taking water from this river into the sand barge to dilute the sand and then pump into the highway construction site (more than one km), the salt water and alum in the rusted sand into the people’s rice fields.
After the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment reported on the above situation, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha asked the Ministry of Construction to soon overcome the saline water leaked from the highway affecting rice, the contractor compensated for damage to the people.

The contractor is promoting construction to bring the project to use by the end of this year.
