Live pig prices in the northern region on January 8, 2025, have slightly increased in some areas compared to yesterday.
Specifically, prices in Vinh Phuc and Tuyen Quang have both risen by VND 1,000, now trading at VND 69,000/kg, matching the rates in Bac Giang and Ha Noi.
Similarly, traders in Nam Dinh have purchased at VND 68,000/kg.
Other areas have shown no price changes.
Thus, live pig prices in the northern region on January 8, 2025, are trading at VND 67,000 – 69,000/kg.
Live pig prices on January 8 in the Central and Central Highlands
In the central and Central Highlands regions, the live pig market on January 8 has shown little change compared to yesterday.
Specifically, only traders in Quang Nam have increased purchases by VND 1,000, now trading at VND 67,000/kg.
Prices in other regions remain stable.

In the southern region, the live pig market continues its upward trend compared to yesterday.
Specifically, the price of live pigs in Kien Giang has risen to VND 69,000/kg after an increase of VND 2,000.
After a 1,000 VND increase, traders in Can Tho, Ca Mau, and Ben Tre are now purchasing at VND 68,000/kg.
Similarly, live pig prices in An Giang, Bac Lieu, and Soc Trang have increased to VND 67,000/kg.
Other regions have shown no new changes.
Thus, live pig prices in the southern region on January 8, 2025, are trading in the range of VND 66,000 – 69,000/kg.
Veterinary sector effectively controls many diseases
Deputy Director of the Department of Animal Health, Phan Quang Minh, stated that in 2024, the veterinary sector successfully controlled many diseases affecting livestock and poultry nationwide.
Specifically, the number of avian flu outbreaks decreased by 23.8%, and the outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease decreased by as much as 60%. As a result, the livestock industry achieved growth of 5.2-5.5%, ensuring a stable supply of food for domestic consumption and boosting exports.
Regarding the establishment of disease-free zones and facilities, there are currently 3,750 certified farming facilities and zones in 60 provinces and cities across the country. These include 1,269 facilities with avian flu-free status, 2,430 livestock facilities, and 51 rabies-free disease zones.
