The provincial government advocates building a symbolic shrimp project because this is a product of high economic value, a major contributor to local seafood exports.
On October 29, Mr. Tran Hieu Hung, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ca Mau province, said that the shrimp symbol is an additional item of the Phan Ngoc Hien square project.
The symbol is made of reinforced concrete and ceramic cladding, located in the middle of the square. Currently, the investor is the Traffic Project Management Board in coordination with Mr. To Minh Tan (author of the shrimp logo) to select the design and construction unit.
Phan Ngoc Hien Square project has a total investment of 236 billion VND (unadjusted), expected to be completed in April 2025. The entire project has a total area of more than 50,700 m2, including many works such as stage, art sprinkler system, yard, internal roads, lighting, water supply and drainage…
Ca Mau is more than 5,300 square kilometers wide, with about 1.2 million people, in the Mekong Delta. The land is blessed with many famous products, including shrimp with the largest farming area in the country, nearly 280,000 hectares. Shrimp has become a key commodity that helps people get rich, making an important contribution to the local economy. The province strives to export shrimp to 1.4 billion USD in 2025.
In addition to Ca Mau, some western provinces currently have symbolic works such as Bac Lieu, which is a pliers, and An Giang, which has a monument to basa fish.
