Buffalo harrow – a rice cultivation tool left by farmer Danh Keo in Giuc Tuong commune, Chau Thanh district, Kien Giang province, was displayed at the event.
After plowing, farmers use harrows to loosen the soil and rake up difficult-to-decompose grass. The harrow has two parts: the body is a rectangular wooden block 1.5-1.7 m long, with two mortise holes in the middle to hold two bamboo frames. The frame is about 2 m long, the end of the frame is attached with a latch, to let the buffalo trough pull it. The harrow part has 9-10 teeth made of iron and bamboo, usually 0.2 m long. The person driving the buffalo harrow stands with his feet on the harrow body, with one hand holding the buffalo’s handle and the other hand holding the whip to signal.
