(VAN) The Viet Nam Deep-Processing Coffee Alliance has been launched to mobilize resources and boost the global brand of Vietnamese coffee.
On April 4, the fourth Viet Nam Coffee and Tea Festival 2026, organized by Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, officially opened at Gigamall Shopping Center in Ho Chi Minh City.
Held annually, the event aims to enhance the value and economic efficiency of Vietnamese coffee and tea while promoting their position in the global market.

According to Mr. Duong Quang, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper and head of the festival’s organizing committee, coffee is one of Viet Nam’s key industrial crops and is now exported to more than 100 countries and territories.
The coffee industry contributes about 2.5% of Viet Nam’s GDP and provides stable jobs and income for more than two million workers. Viet Nam currently has over 710,000 hectares of coffee plantations, ranking sixth in the world, and is the second-largest exporter of Robusta coffee globally, after Brazil.
Meanwhile, the Viet Nam Tea Association reported that by the end of 2025, the country maintained about 128,000 hectares of tea plantations, ensuring supply for both domestic consumption and international markets.
Viet Nam shipped 136,950 tonnes of tea worth more than 238 million USD, with an average price of 1,737 USD per tonne. Currently, 390 businesses and individuals are involved in the tea trade.
Vietnamese tea is now sold in 72 markets, including 15 markets importing over 1,000 tonnes per year. Domestically, about 75,000 tonnes are consumed each year, generating revenue of around 15 trillion VND (approximately 577 million USD).

Within the framework of the festival, the Viet Nam Deep-Processing Coffee Alliance was officially launched. The initiative, proposed by Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, aims to connect stakeholders across the coffee industry ecosystem.
The alliance aims to mobilize resources in policy, finance, technology and communications to help businesses access capital, expand markets and accelerate digital transformation. It also seeks to promote deeper processing, increase the value of Vietnamese coffee and strengthen its global brand.

In 2026, the alliance will focus on three key initiatives: launching a dedicated “Viet Nam Coffee Economy” section on the Nguoi Lao Dong online newspaper; developing a digital map of Viet Nam’s deep-processing coffee ecosystem, providing visual data on enterprises, raw-material regions and value chains; and organizing thematic forums, including a business–finance–market connectivity forum scheduled for later this year.
By 2027, the alliance plans to announce a list of 10 outstanding coffee processing companies, selected based on tangible value-added criteria.
