On the afternoon of May 28, Minister of Agriculture and Environment Do Duc Duy held a working session with Mr. Zhang Yuxi, Chairman of the China Fruit and Vegetable Association and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Xinfadi Agricultural Products Distribution Center.

Xinfadi was also the venue for the first Vietnam Fruit Festival held in Beijing, China, last year.

The festival introduced high-quality Vietnamese fruit products to Chinese consumers, affirming the brand and position of Vietnamese agricultural products in the international market. In addition to showcasing and promoting products, the event also fostered connections between enterprises from both countries, laying the foundation for sustainable cooperation in the agricultural sector.

Following the success of the 2024 Vietnam Fruit Festival in Beijing and the proposal by the Chairman of the Xinfadi Board of Directors to “offer Vietnam a free booth to showcase regional fruit, agricultural, forestry, and fishery products at the Xinfadi Center for two years,” the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment will coordinate with the Ministry of Industry and Trade to propose that the Prime Minister assign the Ministry of Industry and Trade to lead the implementation of the Vietnam booth at Xinfadi within 2025.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment will strengthen the organization of forums and seminars to disseminate Chinese import regulations, connect businesses from both countries, and request Xinfadi’s cooperation in sending experts to Vietnam for training and sharing market demands, consumer preferences, product packaging and preservation standards, procurement and distribution procedures, and local cultural practices.

Both sides also agreed to develop a sustainable supply chain: building an efficient agricultural supply chain from production to distribution. This involves close cooperation between businesses, optimizing transportation processes to reduce costs and delivery times, and enhancing the competitiveness of Vietnamese agricultural products in the Chinese market.

Regarding trade promotion and product branding, events such as the Fruit Festival should be held annually, not only in Beijing but also in other major cities across China. These events help raise awareness of Vietnamese agricultural products and strengthen their brand presence in international markets. Since consumers in Beijing are still relatively unfamiliar with Vietnamese agricultural products in general and Vietnamese fruits in particular, it is essential to increase the presence of Vietnam’s potential agricultural goods at wholesale markets and distribution centers in Beijing and neighboring areas.

On promoting e-commerce, both sides agreed that in the context of global digital transformation, e-commerce will serve as a vital channel to boost agricultural product consumption. Vietnam and China should collaborate on developing effective online distribution channels to bring agricultural products closer to consumers.

The Xinfadi agricultural wholesale market covers an area of 1,680 mu (approximately 112 hectares), with 1,500 administrative staff, about 2,000 permanent stalls, and over 4,000 regular customers. Each day, the market processes around 18,000 tons of vegetables, 20,000 tons of fruits, over 3,000 pigs, more than 1,500 sheep, over 150 cattle, and more than 1,500 tons of seafood.

In recent years, the market has adhered to the principle of providing “strong, extensive, and preferential support,” successfully cultivating 100 “single-product business champions” and 100 leading comprehensive distribution enterprises. This has led to the development of an integrated transaction model for agricultural and food products, covering ten major categories. Among them, fruits and vegetables are the flagship sector, complemented by other key sectors, including meat, grains and oils, seafood, and spices.

In 2024, the total volume of agricultural product transactions at Xinfadi reached 15.8 million tons, with a total transaction value of 130.6 billion yuan. Among more than 4,600 agricultural wholesale markets across China, Xinfadi consistently ranks first in both transaction volume and value, truly serving as the “vegetable basket” and “fruit plate” of the capital.

The “Xinfadi” brand has become a symbol of Chinese agricultural products, and the agricultural price index of the Xinfadi market has emerged as a key barometer and guide for agricultural price trends nationwide.
