Global market price movements
As of April 9, 2025, the global coffee market witnessed notable fluctuations. According to reports from major exchanges, Robusta coffee prices on the London exchange showed slight signs of recovery after a series of sharp declines. Specifically, the May 2025 Robusta futures price increased by $ 35/ton, reaching $ 4,831/ton, while the July 2025 contract also rose by $ 7/ton, to $ 4,807/ton. However, Robusta prices for September and November 2025 deliveries slightly decreased by $ 7 and $ 11/ton, respectively.
In contrast, Arabica coffee prices on the New York exchange continued to decline. The May 2025 contract dropped by 1.9 cents/lb to 342.9 cents/lb, while the July 2025 contract fell by 0.6 cents/lb to 341.35 cents/lb. This decline was partly driven by pressure from a weakening Brazilian Real, which encouraged Brazilian producers to increase exports.
Supply situation
According to information from ICE, Robusta coffee inventories have fallen to their lowest level in three weeks, with only 4,291 lots remaining. This has led to a supply shortage, contributing to the price increase of Robusta coffee. However, concerns that consumers may reduce coffee consumption due to rising prices have dampened market demand.
