Global coffee prices today showed no new changes. Last week, Robusta and Arabica prices for September 2025 delivery plunged by 9.63% and 15.68%, respectively, following news that U.S. lawmakers had introduced a bill to exempt coffee products from import tariffs.

American consumers are currently facing soaring coffee prices due to reliance on supplies from countries such as Brazil, Colombia, Nicaragua, and Vietnam. At present, these countries are subject to high U.S. import tariffs of 50%, 10%, 18%, and 20%, respectively. According to the consumer price index, coffee costs have risen nearly 21% year-on-year, placing significant pressure on household budgets.

Although the tariff exemption bill has passed both the House of Representatives and the Senate, it still requires final approval from the President. Lawmakers are hopeful that President Trump’s administration will consider lifting coffee tariffs in response to public pressure.

They believe that with strong public support, senior officials in the administration will be persuaded to remove coffee from the tariff list, similar to what was done with essential minerals. If this move is implemented, it will unlock coffee flows, ease supply constraints, and could potentially lead to a sharp price decline.

In addition, the rebound of the U.S. dollar also drove this agricultural commodity further down last week.

Thus, global coffee prices on September 22, 2025, remained unchanged compared to yesterday.
