The garden of more than 3,000 m2 of Mr. Nhut in An Thuong hamlet, An Thanh 1 commune, famous everywhere, is one of the first addresses to successfully plant the famous plum variety with the highest price in the current market. The tree is giving fruits with incorrect production to customers.
Mr. Nhut, who has many years of experience in growing local fruit trees. Before planting MST plum, he had about 15 years of planting red flesh dragon fruit. About 4 years ago, he stumbled upon a strange plum with a sweet, crispy and different aroma compared to existing varieties. Impressed with this plum, he sought 150 seedlings from a friend, each costing 250,000 VND.

When embarking on planting plums, Mr. Nhut spent months going to some gardeners in Ben Tre and Tien Giang to learn from experience. At this time, the gardens are only small and are experimenting, so he has many difficulties to find the best planting techniques. “Being a gardener, I think I can do well when studying and doing,” Mr. Nhut said.
Taking advantage of available garden, he built high soil, stable water supply and drainage roads, automatic irrigation systems. MST plum grown for about 10 months will give the first batch of fruit, but at this time he has not harvested to sell simultaneously and let his family and friends try it. From the second case, when the tree was stable, Mr. Nhut began to collect gradually. By the third crop onwards, each tree can give fruit from 100 kg or more each year.
According to this farmer, if taking good care, MST plums can give fruit all year round, concentrated mainly 2 cases. From flowering to fruit harvest about 105 days. Farmers mastering the technique can leave 3-4 crops per year.
MST plum planting technique is harder than other plum varieties because fruits are easily flooded and cracked. Stitching fruit, fruit is very important, determining the yield of the tree. The garden needs a net when the fruit is with a thumb, beard. This plum variety produces very high yield, but if farmers do not master the technique, the tree is weak and prone to disease. In addition, the tree grows well in the high ditch, 70-80 cm from the water surface, if it is too low, the roots are easy to flinch.

Depending on the growth stage of the tree, farmers provide different amounts of water. In the flowering and pistil stage, the tree needs more water to grow well. In the final stage, the tree needs less water to make the fruit crispy, sweet. Mr. Nhut invested two irrigation systems more than 30 million to provide water from time to time.
To limit the costs and care, the garden owner also invests more than VND 100 million to plums in the net house. “There are net houses that will limit flies, less loss rate, fruit also has more beautiful designs,” Nhut said, thanks to the system of mesh, garden reduced watering, reducing 40 % of chemical drugs.
The weight of the MST pink plum averages 6-7 fruit per kilogram is considered to be quality. Each plum fruit from 130 grams will meet the first type standard. Currently, traders come to the garden to buy plums for 80,000-100,000 VND per kg; If retail customers in the garden cost from 120,000 VND.
Because the plum plum MST has high value, traders come to the purchasing garden to test the lines first. The fruit has a distance of 11 dots is considered to be achieved, especially in Mr. Nhut’s garden always reaches 15-16 dots.
Mr. Nhut is supplying products to traders consuming in markets in the province and a number of high -class fruit shops in Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho City. “Unmatched plums have customers ordered, the garden is not enough to sell,” he said, with an average yield of 16 tons per year, after deducting the cost of about 1 billion.

Mr. Nhut’s MST plum garden is also a prestigious address to provide varieties to many farmers in the region and surrounding, for about 70,000 VND per branch. Last year, the garden owner sold about 2,000 seedlings, and this year is not enough to provide. Since the beginning of the year, he has sold 1,000 seedlings and has a guest of 5,000 trees.
Mr. Nguyen Van Dac, Head of Agriculture and Environment Division of Cu Lao Dung district, said that in the past 5 years, the district has appeared a new model is MST plum. The initial results show that this plum variety is suitable for the district sub -region. The whole district currently has over 50 hectares of plum plum mst
Currently, Rose MST is also recognized as an OCOP 3 product, with quite good output. The professional industry also recommends that farmers should not grow massively but carefully prepare farming conditions.
“Some gardeners are selling fruits and traveling to experience,” Mr. Dac said, adding that compared to other varieties, MST plums are more than 10 times higher. Some plum gardens are having export orders to EU, Taiwan and the Middle East.
