(VAN) APITA and UNY (Unicorn Stores group) co-host their first event bringing quality Vietnamese agri-foods to Hong Kong consumers.

Attending and speaking at the opening ceremony were Vietnamese Consul General in Hong Kong Le Duc Hanh, Deputy Consul General and Head of the Viet Nam Trade Office in Hong Kong Vu Thi Thuy, and representatives from the management boards of APITA and the UNY supermarket chain.

Speaking at the event, Consul General Le Duc Hanh highly appreciated the initiative of organizing the Vietnamese Goods Week by the management of the APITA and UNY chains and the Viet Nam Trade Office in Hong Kong.

Hong Kong consumers have shown strong interest in and given highly positive feedback on Vietnamese agricultural products such as rice, coffee, durian, coconut water, and processed foods. Currently, Viet Nam’s agriculture and food processing industries are making a strong transition towards green and sustainable development, meeting the strict standards of international markets.

For the food sector alone, Viet Nam’s export turnover to Hong Kong exceeds $400 million annually and has trended upward over the years. Products such as seafood, agricultural produce (durian, dragon fruit, bananas, pomelos) and snacks are highly favored. Many items like Vietnamese dried rice noodles and pho are rated for their outstanding quality and are frequently “sold out” in supermarkets.

Ms. Vu Thi Thuy further emphasized that although Vietnamese products have been sold at APITA and UNY for a long time, this is the first time both sides have coordinated to organize a large-scale promotional program. Launching the event in early summer, when shopping demand surges, will help optimize promotional effectiveness and enable Vietnamese food to penetrate more deeply into the Hong Kong market.

Beyond acting as a commercial bridge, the “Viet Nam Food Fair” also offers a unique cultural exchange space. At the opening ceremony, Hong Kong residents enjoyed a traditional conical hat dance performed by young Vietnamese in Ao Dai. Additionally, a live cooking show conducted by head chefs from APITA and UNY, featuring shrimp-avocado spring rolls and Vietnamese sizzling pancakes (banh xeo), attracted massive attention from visitors.

The “Vietnam Food Fair” is taking place simultaneously at commercial centers under the APITA and UNY supermarket chain from July 2 to 15. Throughout the event, this chain will apply numerous preferential prices for a portfolio of outstanding products imported directly from Viet Nam.
