Global coffee prices today recorded simultaneous declines across major exchanges. Although Brazil’s 2026-2027 coffee harvest is still in its early stages, expectations of a large upcoming crop in Brazil pressured coffee prices lower during the past week.
In addition, the strong United States dollar and the possibility that the Federal Reserve may continue maintaining high interest rates have also put significant pressure on speculative commodity flows. This factor has led many investors to temporarily reduce their coffee holdings.
Accordingly, on the London exchange, robusta coffee futures for July 2026 delivery fell sharply by 3.05% (-$ 122/ton) compared to the previous session, dropping to $ 3,365/ton. The September 2026 contract declined by 3.77% (-$ 127/ton) to $ 3,245/ton.

Global coffee prices today recorded declines during the latest trading session mainly due to the strengthening USD.
According to analysts, the global coffee market is currently heavily influenced by cautious investor sentiment following a prolonged period of strong volatility. Profit-taking pressure remains present after coffee prices surged significantly over recent months.
Meanwhile, the strong USD and expectations that the Federal Reserve may maintain high interest rates continue to pressure speculative investment flows into commodities. This has prompted many investors to temporarily cut their coffee positions.
Brazil’s 2026-2027 coffee harvest is progressing slowly in early May, as many coffee farms still have a high proportion of green beans and uneven ripening rates.
According to researchers from the Center for Advanced Studies on Applied Economics (Cepea) under the University of São Paulo, the coffee industry is placing high expectations on the new crop supply, as forecasts indicate abundant production, while the previous harvest was relatively limited, especially for arabica coffee.
