(VAN) Domestic coffee prices today, May 4, 2026, recorded a sharp decline compared to last week, with prices ranging between VND 86,000 and VND 86,600/kg.

Global coffee prices today showed mixed movements across some contracts on both major exchanges.
On the London exchange, robusta prices fluctuated unevenly. Specifically, the May 2026 contract increased by $ 3/ton (+0.08%) to $ 3,568/ton; the July 2026 contract rose by $ 3/ton (+0.09%) to $3,364/ton; meanwhile, the September 2026 contract edged down by $ 2/ton (-0.05%) to $3,275/ton.

On the New York exchange, closing the previous session, arabica prices also showed mixed trends across delivery terms. The May 2026 contract rose by 1.10 cents/lb (+0.37%) to 302 cents/lb; the July 2026 contract increased by 0.85 cents/lb (+0.30%) to 286.40 cents/lb; however, the December 2026 contract slipped slightly by 0.15 cents/lb (-0.05%) to 267.50 cents/lb, while more distant contracts maintained a downward adjustment.
Overall, global coffee prices continue to soften since late April, driven by expectations of abundant supply as Brazil prepares to enter its new harvest season.
However, the market still has supportive factors limiting deeper declines. Certified arabica inventories are at their lowest level in two months, while robusta inventories have fallen to a 16-month low. In addition, weather risks remain a key variable, with about a 60% probability of an El Niño event between May and July. If it occurs, it could bring heavy rainfall to Brazil, affecting harvest quality and progress.
From a global perspective, the coffee sector in some countries continues to face challenges. In El Salvador, production for the 2025–2026 crop is estimated at 586,000 bags and may decline further in the following season due to weather impacts, labor shortages, and rising production costs. These factors indicate that the global coffee supply–demand balance still carries mixed and uncertain dynamics.

In Vietnam, domestic coffee prices on May 4, 2026, decreased by VND 1,400–1,500/kg compared to last week, ranging from VND 86,000 to VND 86,600/kg.
Specifically, coffee prices in Dak Nong (former) fell by VND 1,400/kg to VND 86,600/kg.
In Dak Lak and Gia Lai, prices declined by VND 1,500/kg to VND 86,500/kg. Similarly, in Lam Dong, prices also dropped by VND 1,500/kg to VND 86,000/kg, the lowest level in the market.
