Coffee prices on April 9 globallyCoffee prices on April 9 domestically

(VAN) Coffee prices on April 9, 2026, have reversed downward, while domestic prices continue to drop sharply, bringing coffee prices to VND 84,700 – 85,300/kg.

Coffee prices on April 9 globally

Global coffee prices today declined sharply on both the New York and London exchanges. This movement pushed arabica prices down to their lowest level in 3 weeks, while robusta retreated close to an 8-month low, increasing market volatility.

The trading session on April 8 recorded a strong decline on both the London and New York exchanges. Robusta coffee prices for the May 2026 contract on the London exchange dropped by as much as 3.85%, falling to $ 3,315/ton – the lowest level in about 8 months. The July 2026 contract also decreased sharply to $ 3,231/ton.

Meanwhile, arabica prices on the New York exchange fell by about 4%, down to 286.1 US cents/pound for the May 2026 contract, the lowest in 3 weeks. The July 2026 contract also declined to 281.3 US cents/pound. This development indicates that selling pressure is spreading across the market, resulting in significant short-term price fluctuations.

Global coffee prices today adjusted downward, indicating that selling pressure is clearly increasing, especially as international markets decline simultaneously.

According to Barchart, arabica coffee prices recovered from early-session losses and surged toward the end of the session as short-covering buying emerged, amid the Brazilian Real (USDBRL) rising to its highest level in 23 months against the USD.

According to data from the European Coffee Federation (ECF), inventories stood at 408,152 tons (6,802,533 bags) as of February 28, compared to 441,323 tons on January 31, representing a 7.5% month-on-month decrease.

This is the lowest level in nearly two years since the 384,240 tons recorded in March 2024. This figure is also less than half of the peak of 838,796 tons reached in August 2022.

The data is provided by warehouse operators and ports across Europe, including Antwerp, Hamburg, Le Havre, Barcelona, Trieste, Genoa, Napoli, Tallinn, London, Felixstowe, and Bremen.

All segments recorded declines. The largest drop was seen in natural arabica coffee, down 8.5% to 127,113 tons.

Robusta volumes also decreased by 7.6% to 150,126 tons, while washed arabica fell by 6.4% to 130,913 tons.

Compared to February 2025, total inventories declined by 7.99%, mainly due to sharp decreases in natural arabica (-16.4%) and washed arabica (-6.1%), while robusta inventories fell only slightly by 1.3%.

Thus, coffee prices on April 9, 2026 in the global market have adjusted downward again on major exchanges.

Domestically, the coffee market on April 9, 2026 recorded a sharp decline, marking one of the deepest adjustments since the beginning of the month. Accordingly, in the Central Highlands, coffee prices simultaneously dropped by about VND 4,000/kg compared to the previous day, falling to the range of VND 84,700 – VND 85,300/kg.

Specifically, in Dak Nong (now part of Lam Dong), coffee is currently being purchased at VND 85,300/kg – the highest among key coffee-growing regions. In Dak Lak and Gia Lai, traders are buying at VND 85,200/kg.

Meanwhile, Lam Dong continues to record transactions at around VND 84,700/kg.

Kon Tum remains the locality with a slightly lower price level, at around VND 85,000/kg.

According to traders, the domestic coffee market is showing signs of adjustment after a fairly strong increase in the previous week, as many businesses and investors are becoming more cautious amid fluctuations in the global market.
