Connecting supply and demand, expanding markets for Vietnamese fruitJoining hands to elevate the Vietnamese agricultural brand

(VAN) Viet Nam Fruit Week 2026 officially opened in Dong Thap, bringing together businesses and cooperatives to promote fruit products and expand market access.

Connecting supply and demand, expanding markets for Vietnamese fruit

On June 4, the opening ceremony of Viet Nam Fruit Week was held at GO! My Tho Shopping Center in Dong Thap province. The event was jointly organized by Central Retail Viet Nam and the Dong Thap People’s Committee.

This was the fifth edition of Viet Nam Fruit Week, which aimed to elevate Vietnamese agriculture and create new opportunities for farmers and producers. The event attracted more than 50 businesses, cooperatives, and OCOP household producers supplying fresh fruit and fruit-based processed products from provinces and cities across the country, including Dong Thap, Vinh Long, Can Tho, Tay Ninh, Dak Lak, Son La, and Bac Ninh.

As part of the event, a business matching program connected 42 enterprises, cooperatives, and producers directly with Central Retail Viet Nam’s purchasing teams. The initiative was expected to create business opportunities for both sides while contributing to stable and sustainable market access for Vietnamese agricultural products.

At the opening ceremony, Tran Huu Linh, Director of the Agency for Domestic Market Surveillance and Development under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, emphasized the presence of Vietnamese fruit on the world map, making a name for itself in more than 60 countries and territories.

This aligned with the Government’s strategy of going beyond raw product exports. The ultimate objective was to build sustainable value chains, increase technological content, and ensure green and biosafety standards, thereby strengthening Viet Nam’s position in both international markets and the modern domestic retail sector.

“Today’s event represents a partnership among the State, farmers, and businesses, particularly highlighting the market-leading role of major retail groups. We highly appreciate Central Retail and the GO! supermarket system for maintaining this promotional series in the fruit capital of the Mekong Delta.

“The event brings practical benefits on multiple fronts. Consumers gain access to safe specialty fruits with clear origins at attractive prices in a modern shopping environment. For farmers and cooperatives, it serves as an effective bridge to modern distribution channels, helping stabilize market access and encouraging higher production standards such as VietGAP and GlobalGAP,” Director Linh said.

Joining hands to elevate the Vietnamese agricultural brand

According to Nguyen Thanh Dieu, Vice Chairman of the Dong Thap People’s Committee, Dong Thap is one of the key agricultural provinces in the Mekong Delta, blessed with fertile land and favorable climatic conditions that make it an ideal region for specialty fruit cultivation.

The province currently has more than 30,000 hectares of fruit orchards, producing well-known products such as Cao Lanh mangoes, Ngu Hiep durians, Chau Thanh longans, Tan Phuoc pineapples, and many other specialty fruits distinctive to the Mekong Delta.

What made this year’s Viet Nam Fruit Week even more meaningful was that it coincided with preparations for the first Dong Thap Fruit Festival in 2026. While the two events have independent objectives, they converge in a shared mission: honoring and enhancing the value of Vietnamese fruit.

“On behalf of the local government, I would like to acknowledge and highly appreciate the practical contributions of Central Retail Viet Nam. In addition to successfully organizing the fifth edition of its flagship event, the group has actively coordinated with and supported the province by launching a large-scale campaign to showcase Dong Thap’s agricultural products and specialty fruits across all 63 sales points within its nationwide distribution network.

“This partnership is not only about sharing resources, but also opens a vast market channel for farmers at a time when the newly expanded Dong Thap province is shaping its development strategy and accelerating growth,” Vice Chairman Dieu said.

Olivier Langlet, Group Chief Executive Officer of Central Retail Viet Nam, said that five years ago, Central Retail became the first retailer in Viet Nam to develop a nationwide fruit promotion program inspired by the country’s rich fruit culture.

“By connecting northern fruit harvests such as lychee, longan, and plum with the abundance of tropical fruits from southern Viet Nam, Viet Nam Fruit Week celebrates the diversity of Vietnamese agriculture while linking growers and local producers with consumers nationwide,” he said.

This year’s Vietnam Fruit Week is being held simultaneously at GO!, Tops Market, and mini go! stores nationwide from June 4 to June 7, 2026. Promotions of up to 50% are being offered on dozens of fruit products, accompanied by entertainment activities and livestream sales events.

According to the organizers, building on the success of previous editions, this year’s event aims to remind Vietnamese families that, as the traditional Mid-Year Festival approaches, it is also the season to enjoy some of the finest fruits Vietnam has to offer.
