(VAN) Dong Thap is expanding the management of planting area codes, aquaculture area codes, and certified production systems.
According to the Dong Thap Sub-Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection, the province has continued to achieve positive results in managing planting area codes, aquaculture area codes, and safe production standards. These efforts have helped strengthen the competitiveness of its agricultural products in export markets.

To date, Dong Thap has been granted 3,496 export planting area codes covering 1,544 growing areas with a combined area of more than 101,182 hectares. Of these, 3,452 codes covering 1,503 growing areas and more than 100,141 hectares have been approved by importing countries, while 44 codes for 41 growing areas, totaling over 1,040 hectares, are awaiting approval.
The province has also secured approval for 496 packing house codes, with another 69 codes under review for key export commodities, including dragon fruit, bananas, durians, jackfruit, coconuts, watermelons, pomelos, longans, mangoes, and chili peppers.
In addition, Dong Thap has issued 1,868 domestic planting area codes covering nearly 186,000 hectares, facilitating product traceability, quality control, and compliance with the technical requirements of export markets.
At the same time, the province continues to expand production under VietGAP, GlobalGAP, and organic standards. More than 1,560 hectares of fruit orchards have been certified under these schemes, along with nearly 100 hectares of vegetables and over 1,944 hectares of rice certified as VietGAP or organic. In addition, 771 hectares of fruit orchards operated by 49 establishments have been granted food safety certification.

Mr. Tran Thanh Tam, Director of the Dong Thap Sub-Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection, said that expanding and strictly managing planting area codes and packing house codes, together with developing certified production areas, is a key solution to meeting traceability requirements, ensuring the quality of agricultural products, and enhancing the reputation of Dong Thap’s produce in international markets.
He added that in the coming period, the agriculture and environment sector will continue to strengthen inspection and monitoring of compliance with planting area code requirements, while guiding farmers and businesses to meet the regulations of importing countries. These efforts are expected to support the sustainable growth of the province’s agricultural exports.
